WEEK 8 | Keep on Rollin’
The Saskatchewan Roughriders steal a win against the BC Lions in Week 8, improving their record overall to 5-2 and second in the West behind the red hot Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
With the Riders on a two-win streak, let’s find out what the fans have to say about their performance in Week 8.
FANS WEIGH IN
We always expect a good bounce back in CFL football – and since the back-to-back losses against Winnipeg, the Saskatchewan Roughriders have carved out a two-win streak – beating the Toronto Argonauts at home and then the BC Lions on their home turf in Week 8. As a result, it is no surprise that fans say that their winning is “thrilling” but were quick to dub the contest “interesting” – as fans know that the Roughriders just barely sneaked by with the win.
With the Week 8 finish by the Riders, fans say that “playing until the last play” (18%) was a massive reason for their recent success. In addition, Rider Nation says that the “offensive passing game” (17%) and “D-line” (13%) also seem to contribute.
As it has seemed for the last several weeks, fans believe penalties continue to be the Roughriders’ biggest weakness this season.
A shift in Confidence?
The Grey Cup Confidence Index continues to bounce back with the added win streak. In Week 8, the GCCI jumped from 48 to 97 (an increase of +49).
The Roughriders are set to face off against the slumping Calgary Stampeders – can they continue to keep one of the Beasts of the West to a losing record? Or will the Calgary Stampeders try to crawl out of the losing season they find themselves in for the first time in a long time?
